Day 5--Quick Update

I'll let the students provide more details and photos.  We have had a busy couple of days. Yesterday (Monday) the morning was spent in lectures, and then we traveled to Nishinomiya, a suburb of Osaka, to visit a pharmacy that specializes in herbal (kampo) medicine. After that we had lunch--some went to a kaiten (conveyor belt) sushi place and others had okonomiyaki.  Most of the afternoon was spent at Osaka-jo (castle), and after a quick stop at a large electronics store (Yodobashi Camera) near Osaka Station we headed back to Kobe (only 25 minutes  by train). Today also was busy--a couple of lectures this am, and then after eating lunch in the hospital cafeteria, we spent most of the afternoon at Kobe City Hospital. This evening the Kobe Gakuin students made us takoyaki, yakisoba and okonomiyaki.

Thus far I think the UA students are having a great experience.  Our hosts, both faculty and students, have been extremely gracious. It has been fun for me so far to see the excitement and enthusiasm our students have, and every day is a new adventure for them.   More to come from our students.
