First day in Kobe

Today was our first day at Kobe Gakuin University.  Everyone seems to be rested after our long travel day yesterdayWe have a shared Dropbox folder in which photos will be uploaded--see the link below if you want to see photo:s https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gjzwv43jd8hl4wl/AAD6Ac9wXdHO3TWO06ulka5Aa

Today the students got a short tour of the school  and there was a welcome lunch attended by faculty and students.  Because the rain stopped after lunch in advance of the typhoon, we decide to change the schedule a bit and let the UA and  KGU students have the afternoon and evening free to explore Kobe.

With the typhoon coming tonight, tomorrow rather than our planned visit to Hiroshima we are hoping to go to Arima Onsen (http://www.arima-onsen.com/eng/index.html, http://www.taikounoyu.com/), a typical hot spring town in the mountains outside of Kobe. This is my personal favorite typhoon activity. Going to an onsen is a quintessential Japan experience, so hopefully the weather will cooperate.
